Scooty Puff

Micro-Mobility Chronicles

Scooty Puff is my ride. I sold my car during the pandemic-too expensive, too idle. What I needed was simple mobility. And so began the Scooty Puff saga.

Scooty Puff Alpha was a small electric scooter. Tiny solid wheels, no screen, no frills. Just a throttle, a brake, a plug, and a battery. When it was new, I could get to the bank and back-about 4 miles roundtrip. Now it barely circles the block. But Alpha was the OG.

Scooty Puff Delta was my first real e-bike. A gray Dream Series with disc brakes, digital display, 45-watt motor, and plenty of power. It took me from one side of Orange County to the other. I added a basket and rode it to beaches, hills, client offices, and trails. It was my summer river-trail companion and errand beast. The battery eventually died, but the memories live on. Delta was the golden era of my scooty life.

Scooty Puff Gamma was a short-lived rental ride in New York. I bought it for mobility while visiting my dad on Long Island. Rode it around Coram to explore, even though I had access to a van. After a week, I returned it. Quick ride, good ride, named ride.

Each Scooty Puff had its own moment. From budget fixes to true freedom machines, they replaced the car and gave me wheels without the weight. It's micro-mobility. It's my scooty fleet.
